Carolina National Golf Club is a 27-hole Fred Couples signature golf course,  set along the Banks of the Lockwood Folly River. Winding through rich low country terrain, the course offers an endless variety of playing experiences and has been recognized by Golf Digest as one of the finest courses on the eastern seaboard. We're located in Brunswick County between Myrtle Beach South Carolina and Wilmington North Carolina. 

The course opened in 1998, six years after Freddie's iconic Master's victory. Drawing upon ispiration from his experiences at the Masters, Mr. Couples incorporated the Augusta "feel" at the Carolina coast.

 

Carolina National Golf Club is also an Audubon-Certified Sanctuary Golf Course.  This honor comes with the responsibility to uphold the principles of environmental stewardship such as maintaining a refuge for wildlife and a healthy environment. With three nine's -  EGRET  |HERON | IBIS  - each with it's own distinct  personality, the course was designed to accommodate all skill levels through its innovative design and multiple tee placements. At just over 7,000 yards  from the tips, the course will challenge the accomplished golfer, yet five sets of strategically placed tees offer an equally challenging test to golfers of all abilities. Players of Lockwood Folly Country Club leave with an incredible memory of tree-lined fairways with massive oaks, stately pines, quiet ponds and abundant wildlife.  Built upon a former hunting preserve, the golf course and community borders the Lockwood Folly River, the Intra-Coastal Waterway and is so close to the Atlantic Ocean that the roar of the surf often remains with golfers long after their round is completed. Our links style course winds its way among salt marshes, creeks, forests, fields and our community. Lockwood Folly is located on the Carolina coast mid-way between Myrtle Beach and Wilmington, NC and may require a slight detour from the mainstream to reach, but it is definitely worth the ride because the golf is challenging, yet rewarding, and the views and ambiance are simply superb.  The 18 hole, par 72 Willard Byrd designed course measures 6836 yards from the tips and has a rating of 73.9 with a slope of 140.  The front tees provide a distance of 5029 yards for a rating of 71.1 with a slope of 122.  Whatever a player’s ability level, Lockwood Folly Golf Course will provide one with an unforgettable round of golf.

The best part of the lakes is that we offer a different experience than the newer and modern facilities.  he focus is on player friendliness and quality turf.  Not only the player's score, but their wallet will enjoy playing here. From the casual “no attendant” bag drop, to the registration counter at the bar, you will feel at home here. The generous four tee box system ensures that every player can find a comfortable (or very challenging) distance to play the course. The roughs are maintained at a height of no more than 1 inch so that any shot outside the fairway can be easily found and played. Average times for 18 holes at The Lakes are 4 hours.

Riegelwood Country Club is a player-friendly, nine-hole layout that has been around since 1960. The golf course is ideal for beginners but it is great for a quick round regardless of skill level. The layout features wide-open fairways that are mostly flat, but there are strategically placed sand bunkers lurking alongside all of them. The golf course is not as seemingly easy as one would think since the open landscape is also subject to strong winds. There are also stands of mature trees throughout as well as waste areas that are waiting to swallow up errant shots. It is not a formidable test by any means but it is not a simple pitch-and-putt either. Players of all skill levels can get some good practice in at Riegelwood Country Club.
